Three Pay-as-you-go Mobile Broadband Options
Are you interested in trying out mobile broadband, but sceptical about a long term contract? Today consumers have three options for trying out mobile broadband without a contract. Vodafone, O2 and 3 Mobile broadband services are all available in short term packages that are perfect for trials.
Vodafone’s pay as you go mobile broadband service requires the purchase of a £39.00 dongle; O2 mobile broadband requires a £29.35 USB modem, while the Three mobile broadband modem is £48.93. Consider these “set up” charges, as you won’t be able to access pay as you go mobile broadband without these modems.
Each company differs in the amount and terms associated with top ups, and all feature speeds of up to 3.6 Mb.
Vodafone offers only one top up option: £15 per GB, but Vodafone top ups don’t expire. Vodafone also includes a free £15 top up when you start service.
Three Mobile offers 1GB data for £10, 3GB data £15, and 7GB data £25. 3 Mobile top ups must be used with 30 days.
O2 allows you to purchase mobile broadband in daily, weekly or monthly increments. You can purchase 500 MB for £2, 1GB for £7.50, or 3GB for £15. O2’s mobile broadband service also includes unlimited WiFi access.
If you want the cheapest option to start using pay as you go mobile broadband, O2 is the clear choice. The setup fee is the lowest of all three companies and their top up rates are reasonable. Just be sure to check coverage to verify you’ll be able to use O2 mobile broadband in the locations where you’ll want Internet access.
